A California woman took a modern approach to recovering a treasured family heirloom that was stolen shortly after it was delivered.
Nellie Hill of Berkeley, California, posted photos of a painting given to her by her late mother to Stolen911.com. The creator of the site, a California Highway Patrol officer, calls the site the "Craigslist of stolen property."
Seven months after posting the photos, Hill received a phone call: the painting had been found.
Hill told CNN affiliate KPIX that her mother would be tickled by the painting's eventful journey.
"She'd like the story," she told the TV station. "The painting had an adventure!"
