Since 2007, the group has been taking in unwanted dogs from legal puppy mills and finding homes for them. Michele Burchfield works for the organization and says they take in about 60 dogs a month.
Cricket, who is 6 years old, was one of 87 dogs taken in from Midwest breeders in November. Her life prior to going to the rescue had been mostly confined to a cage. Cricket is now fostered with a family who shot the video above on an iPhone.
Burchfield says Cricket's video was seen more than 3 million times on the rescue group's Facebook page. She also adds that the video "helps to break the impression that shelter and rescue dogs are damaged" by their circumstances. She says that, while other organizations work toward legislation banning puppy mills, in the meantime her organization is focused on rescuing the dogs first and getting them loving homes.
