Claim: DirecTV sent sex offender to family home

  • Texas family sues DirecTV after a man who comes into home during service call turns out to be a registered sex offender
  • The offender took suggestive photos of the family’s 12-year-old daughter, and is now serving a prison sentence
  • DirecTV says that the offender was never one of its employees, and wasn’t authorized to be there

A family in Murphy, Texas has filed a civil lawsuit against satellite television provider DirecTV, claiming the service technician who came into their home turned out to be a registered sex offender.

Wahren Scott Massey, who was subsequently arrested, is now serving a prison sentence.  But DirecTV says the offender was never one of its employees and was not authorized to go on service calls, and therefore the company isn’t responsible for the incident.
