From the pound to a private jet! Lab retires in style

NEED TO KNOW
  • Lady, who has arthritis, managed to escape and walk about 30 miles from Independence to Sedan, Kansas
  • Her first adopted family couldn't take her back
  • An heiress to the Wrigley's gum company booked Lady a seat on a private jet so she could come live with her in Florida

A senior Labrador retriever who walked 30 miles home to a family who couldn't take her back in got to pack her doggy bags Thursday and book a one-way trip on a private jet to her new forever home!

Helen Rich, an heiress to the Wrigley's gum company, saw Lady's story (you can read about it here -- she used to go by "Ma Kettle"!) and decided to take in the homeless pooch. She sent her assistant, Chet Ragsdale, to take Lady back to Tampa, Florida, on a private jet.

"She going to think she's gone to heaven," Ragsdale told CNN affiliate KWCH.

Lady will spend the rest of her days on Rich's farm, where she has rescued hundreds of other animals.

Check out this shot of her getting the royal treatment:
