Texas governor calls up National Guard

  • 1000 troops will help secure border
  • Waves of unaccompanied children from Central America attempting to cross into the U.S.

Texas governor Rick Perry says he's tired of waiting for the federal government, so he's sending one thousand National Guard troops to secure his state's border.

Thousands of unaccompanied children from Central America are coming into the country through Texas.

Perry says border patrol agents are so distracted by the influx of immigrant kids, criminals are easily sneaking across the border.

Deploying the National Guard will cost Texas $12 million a month.

Perry says he'll send that bill to the feds.

The troops will come in the next 30 days.

Today's must-see, must-share stories are in the daily speed feed.
