'Badlands': Based on the murder sprees of real-life criminals Charles Starkweather and his girlfriend, Caril Ann Fugate, who together killed 11 people across the South Dakota badlands.

'The Bling Ring': This film tracks the actual events of a clique of teenage burglars who successfully robbed some of Hollywood’s most lavish celebrity homes.

'Boys Don’t Cry': A dramatization of transgender man Brandon Teena’s life of secrets and his brutal murder.

'The French Connection': The true story of an NYPD narcotics squad and their efforts to trace the illegal imports of heroin into the United States.

'Monster': Based on the real-life story of Aileen Wuornos, a female serial killer who murdered seven men in Florida between 1989 and 1990.

'Pain & Gain': Loosely based off the real-life story of the “Sun Gym Gang” in South Florida. Marc Schiller was kidnapped by a group of men on November 15, 1994. He was taken to a warehouse and held captive for almost a month.

'Party Monster': Adapts the story of Club Kid promoter Michael Alig, who bragged on television about the murder of his drug dealer and roommate Angel Melendez.

'Zodiac': Chronicles the 1970's police investigation of a serial killer in the San Francisco Bay Area who claimed to have committed 37 individual murders and to this day has never been identified.
