Nancy Grace: Missing boy case ‘not fitting together’
12-year-old Charlie Bothuell disappeared from his father’s Detroit, Michigan home on June 14, leading to a frantic search that included local police, FBI and even the father going door-to-door. 11 days later, the boy is found alive…inside the basement of the same home he vanished from.
Police say Bothuell was found barricaded in the corner behind a furnace, mechanical unit and dresser. Cereal and soda were also found near the missing boy. The basement is about 20 feet by 30 feet in size.
Police have also recovered bloody clothes and PVC pipe from the father’s home.
The stepmother's uncle reportedly lives just doors away in the townhomes where Charlie was found, with all units connected by an underground tunnel.
Responding to suggestion that the boy may have been shuttled back and forth between the two residences, Grace asks why Charlie's father would subject himself to being “grilled like a bar-b-que” if he were intentionally hiding the child.
The Nancy Grace show's calls to the uncle of the missing boy's stepmother were not returned.
