Left in a car: Watch temps rise to 120 °F in minutes!

NEED TO KNOW
  • HLN put a thermometer inside a car with the windows up
  • It was about 85 degrees when we first placed it inside
  • We let our camera roll to see how quickly the temperature rose

You might be surprised just how quickly it heats up inside a car on a hot day. HLN did an experiment by placing a thermometer inside a car at around 1 p.m. on a partly cloudy June day in Atlanta, Georgia. The car was parked in direct sunlight with the windows rolled up. When we initially placed the thermometer in the car, it was already about 85 degrees. Watch this video to see how quickly the temperature rises, minute-by-minute.
