One racing greyhound in Florida dies every three days.
A shocking report in the Miami Herald reveals that more than 70 dogs died on racetrack property in the second half of 2013 alone.
A new law in Florida requires owners to fill out a death report whenever a greyhound dies at a racetrack. The Miami Herald obtained and reviewed these reports, discovering that 74 dogs died between May 31, 2013, and December 31, 2013. It's unclear how many more dogs were injured. There is still no law in Florida requiring that greyhound injuries be reported -- only deaths.
Jane spoke with animal advocate Jane Garrison about what these greyhounds go through.
