Paul Walker’s dream role

NEED TO KNOW
  • Paul Walker’s breakout role was in 2001 movie, ‘The Fast & Furious’
  • Walker was in the middle of producing the seventh ‘Fast & Furious’ movie when he died on Saturday

It was a dream role for a young actor.

Paul Walker told CNN senior producer Paul Vercammen back in 2001 that landing the role in the original “The Fast and the Furious” was just a dream come true. And when producers asked him to attend race car driving school to prepare for the role, he thought they were actually joking. Walker told Vercammen, “I remember getting a phone call, it was like 'Hey, Paul, we realize we're not filming yet but would you be comfortable going to Las Vegas for a couple of days to go to race car driving school?' I'm like, 'What, are you kidding me? This is a joke, right?' It was just…unreal.”

Tune in to Showbiz Tonight on HLN at 11 p.m. ET/PT to hear more of what Paul Walker revealed in that interview about drag racing and whether he had any concerns about the movie promoting the dangerous sport.
