Welcome to "technolstalgia." Apparently, all it takes to really confuse a kindergartner is to show them a typewriter.
That's what HLN affiliate WBTV reporter Kristen Hampton did last week. She took a camera into a class and showed them pieces of bygone technology (the typewriter, a rotary phone, and a record player).
One student called the typewriter "a laptop," another thought it was "a cash register."
They also had trouble with how to dial the rotary phone.
However, not all hope is lost. The kids seemed to know what a record player was (though one did call it "a really big CD"). I guess all those "Vinyl will never die" types were right.
Here's a test you can do yourself: At Thanksgiving, play this video for the kids and ask them what it is. Odds are, many will never have heard it.
