Group rescues beagles from labs

  • Beagles are often bred to be to sold to research facilities
  • "Pound Seizure" is illegal in only 18 states

There are currently about 65,000 dogs in experimental laboratories in the United States.  And according to the Beagle Freedom Project, 96% of them are beagles. These dogs are used because of their calm and trusting personalities.

Critics say the experiments are like torture for these dogs. The Beagle Freedom Project has rescued more than 150 dogs and wants to end dog experimentation.  For more information go to  Jane Velez-Mitchell spoke to Shannon Keith the president of the Beagle Freedom Project.
