For many military veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, a simple task like a trip to the store can be terrifying. With all the people, the noise and the distractions, it can be too much for vets to handle. For some, just the thought of the trip can cause severe anxiety. So, they just don't do it, choosing to stay inside or go late at night when the stores will be empty. But there is another solution: service dogs.

Brett Simon from K9s for Warriors uses dogs to help veterans get back to civilian life. Watch the video above to see how he does it.

You can see more of his story and the stories of other American heroes being helped by dogs. Robin Meade hosts an HLN Special Presentation, Stories of Courage: K9s for Warriors, premiering on Veterans Day, November 11, at 7 p.m. ET.
