Authorities announced at a press conference Friday night that 15-year-old Kathryn Stalbaum of Genesee, Wisconsin has been found safe approximately 100 miles away in Chicago.
Investigators said Stalbaum approached a police officer in Chicago and asked for help, and she is now with Chicago police. Additional details about how she got to Chicago and why she was there were unavailable.
Stalbaum had been reported missing when she disappeared Tuesday after texting a friend to say she was riding her bike to school. The bike was found in Waukesha, several miles from her home, on Thursday.
Police said the investigation will continue as they seek answers, but they thanked everyone who has worked to find Kathryn safe and unharmed.
