The season finale of “Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown” is just days away – airing this Sunday night on CNN. In eight episodes, Bourdain took fans around the world from Copenhagen and Spain to South Africa and even Detroit, exploring the world of food and fun. But how did Detroit get on the list?
“It’s one of the great, great American cities. And what’s happened to it is sort of shocking, very shocking,” Bourdain tells Showbiz Tonight. “There’s a tendency for outsiders to go and look at what they call locally ruined porn, looking at abandoned buildings, waist-sized grass in the center city. But it doesn’t take away from the outsized dreams, the incredible beauty, how cool and resilient and funny, uniquely funny Detroiters are. It takes a lot of heart and a lot of toughness to stick it out in Detroit.”
