Nancy Grace

"Nancy Grace" is television's only justice themed/interview/debate show for those interested in the breaking news of the day.

Niece alleges MacNeill 'chose to kill my aunt'

  • Michele MacNeill's niece reacts to testimony about aunt's cause of death
  • Niece Jill Harper-Smith says case going 'really good' so far
  • Expert testified Friday that death was result of drowning, not heart disease

After two key prosecution experts took the witness stand at Martin MacNeill's trial for his wife Michele's murder, the couple's niece said on HLN's Nancy Grace Friday that she feels the state's case has been strong so far.

Jill Harper-Smith also said she is "extremely proud" of Alexis Somers and the other MacNeill daughters who have testified against their father in the trial.

Harper-Smith offered her opinion of Friday's testimony by experts Dr. Joshua Perper and Dr. David Cragun, which she said "went really well."

Perper testified that he believes Michele MacNeill drowned and Cragun disputed the theory that myocarditis caused her death, but the state's experts could not say with certainty that she was murdered.
