For some people, it's not only important for them to do work they love, it's important to do good. HLN's Kyra Phillips is one of those people who gets to do both every day.

"I’m totally humbled by this honor, but it also reminded me of my purpose and how I can use my platform as a journalist to be an advocate and raise awareness," Phillips said. "Every parent is touched by or has close ties to the special needs community. If it’s not in your own family, you know a family that’s touched by a person with special needs."

The foundation created this video of her life's work for others to understand her life-long commitment to making a difference.
"In this video, I hope you’ll get to know me, get to know my heart and get to know why I’m an advocate for the special needs community," she said. "And this is what Raising America is all about: Awareness and advocacy for the America family."
