School officials resign over racist texts

  • Superintendent, athletic director resign amid controversy
  • Racist, vulgar texts found on school-issued phones

Two school leaders in the Coatesville School District in Pennsylvania are out of work after another school employee revealed their back-and-forth text exchanges that included racial slurs, vulgar accusations about fellow school officials and the students they teach.

Superintendent Richard Como and athletic director Jim Donato both resigned shortly before the school year began. Parents say they were outraged that the two were allowed to leave on their own terms rather than being fired.
