Early Sunday morning, police responded to a 911 call in Charlotte, North Carolina. The caller said a man was trying to break into her house. When police arrived, they found Jonathon Ferrell there. Exactly what happened between police and Ferrell is unclear but one of the officers opened fire on Ferrell shooting him 10 times and killing him.
But Ferrell’s family says he was not trying to break into that home. Ferrell had crashed his car and walked about a half mile to that neighborhood seeking help. Ferrell, formerly a star football player at Florida A & M University was unarmed. Now the police officer, who shot him, Randall Kerrick, is facing charges of manslaughter.
The 911 call has been released but the video from the dash cam in the police car has not been released to the public. But the attorney for Jonathon Ferrell has seen the video and he tells Jane Velez-Mitchell what he saw.
