One boxing promoter called him the next “Oscar de la Hoya.” But 17-year-old Alexis Urbina didn’t live to see his dreams come true. His mother found him unconscious in their Phoenix home on September 3, badly beaten. He later died in the hospital.
There were no signs of a break-in, and only a few of his personal items were stolen. The Phoenix Police Department tells HLN they still don’t have any suspect information or descriptions.
Now, his family is left to search for his killer, while they prepare for his funeral.
Alexis’ sister, Sulem Urbina -- also a boxer -- talked to HLN’s Ryan Smith on Evening Express about the brother she loved so much.
