Baby Elaina's family reacts to new developments

NEED TO KNOW
  • 18-month-old Elaina Steinfurth has been missing since June 2
  • Remains found in garage belonging to ex-boyfriend of Elaina's mom
  • Elaina's grandfather and other relatives speak out about the findings

Elaina Steinfurth's family is reacting to a possible breakthrough in the case of the missing toddler. Police discovered “immature human skeletal remains” Thursday in a garage at the Toledo home where she was reportedly last seen.

Authorities announced Friday at a press conference they are awaiting an autopsy to see if the remains are those of baby Elaina.

Holding tears back, Elaina's grandfather Richard Schiewe told HLN affiliate WTOL, "If it is Elaina, we got to come together even stronger. So that we can put our baby to rest, and we can have peace now finally if it is her."
