A bookkeeper at an Atlanta-area elementary school is being hailed as a hero after she was able to talk down an alleged gunman who opened fire in her school.
Antoinette Tuff told HLN affiliate WSB she and another teacher saw the man, who has been identified by police as Michael Brandon Hill, enter the building with a gun. Tuff said Hill told everyone he was not afraid to die that day and that "this is not a joke."
Tuff was able to communicate with Hill after he reportedly shot at police several times and fired an additional round in the school. She said she "just started telling him how my life had turned last year and how rough it had been for me."
HLN's Lynn Berry talked about Tuff's courage and empathy with Dr. Tiffany Davis Henry.
