Reality check! Fame to blame for arrests?

  • Stars of ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey,’ Teresa and Joe Giudice, have been indicted on fraud charges
  • Each is being represented by their own attorneys
  • hey could face up at least 30 years in prison if convicted

Reality check this! The attorney representing “Real Housewives Of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice, is now saying she and her husband Joe were targeted because of their fame!

Her attorney Henry Klingeman tells People magazine, "She's certainly being targeted because of her celebrity. The government frequently targets high-profile people to draw attention to their prosecutorial efforts. It’s especially happening here."

And Joe Guidice’s attorney, Miles Feinstein, says, "I feel that because of his celebrity status he's being treated differently than others are for the same offense.”

Former "Real Housewives Of New York" star, Alex McCord tells Showbiz Tonight, “They were easier to find because they are famous from reality tv…because they have made their name living a blinged out, crazy, loud lifestyle, it was easy to say, ‘hmm let’s see what they’re doing. Is everything on the up and up.’ Of course once you open up that can of worms, it’s obviously not.”

What if Teresa and Joe do land behind bars? What would life be like to the two reality stars who are used to living a life of luxury? Find out tonight on Showbiz Tonight at 11 p.m. ET/PT on HLN.
