Watch: Skype trolls hit Zimmerman trial

  • Prosecution witness tries to testify via Skype
  • Internet trolls call in and jam the testimony
  • Witness finishes testimony over speakerphone

This is what happens when you combine a high-profile trial, new technology and Internet trolls.

Wednesday morning, the prosecution in the George Zimmerman trial tried to use Skype to have one of its witnesses testify from Colorado.

The witness had only gotten through a few answers before the first "call" showed up on the screen.

After a few moments, that was followed by more incoming calls, which quickly reached a crescendo.

As defense attorney Mark O'Mara said, "There's a really good chance we're being toyed with."

The judge quickly regrouped, the Skype call was ended, and the testimony of the witness was completed on speakerphone.
