Did star witness help or hurt prosecution?

  • George Zimmerman was charged with 2nd degree murder
  • Zimmerman claims he shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense

The star witness for the prosecution, Rachael Jeantel, testified Wednesday in the George Zimmerman trial. Jeantel was on the phone with Trayvon Martin seconds before he was shot and killed. She testified about those final moments and was not shy on the stand, going at it with defense attorney Don West -- but did her testimony help or hurt the prosecution’s case?

Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch captain, is charged with second-degree murder for shooting 17-year-old Martin on February 26, 2012. He told police he was pursuing the teenager because there had been a rash of crime in the area. A conflict ensued, and Zimmerman said he was forced to kill Martin in self-defense.
