George Zimmerman jury sees the gun

  • Crime scene technician Diane Smith displays weapon used to kill Trayvon Martin
  • Says she found no fingerprints or DNA from Trayvon Martin on it
  • Zimmerman told police he used gun after Martin reached for it when they were fighting

In court today, prosecutors had crime scene investigator Diana Smith show the jury the gun and holster George Zimmerman used the night he shot and killed Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch captain, is charged with second-degree murder for shooting 17-year-old Martin on February 26, 2012. He told police he was pursuing the teenager because there had been a rash of crime in the area. A conflict ensued, and Zimmerman said he was forced to kill Martin in self-defense.

Smith testified that tests showed none of Martin's fingerprints or DNA on the gun or holster.

Zimmerman told police that as he was on the ground with Martin on top of him, he saw Martin try to reach for the gun. That's when Zimmerman said he pulled the gun out and fired one time.
