Zimmerman tells all to lie detector: ‘I got out of my car’

  • Days after fatal shooting, George Zimmerman gave interview to computer voice analysis expert
  • He describes shooting, says Trayvon Martin attacked him

Last year, George Zimmerman told his version of events to Sanford police investigators. In this 2012 clip, he takes about 10 minutes to discuss how he saw Trayvon Martin, how he followed him, the confrontation between them, and the shooting.

Zimmerman says he followed Martin because he thought he was acting suspiciously. “I got out of my car to look for a street sign so I could at least tell them [the police] what street I was on,” he says.

According to Zimmerman, he followed Martin for a little while before losing him. That's when he says Martin attacked him, knocking him to the ground.  Zimmerman says in the struggle his jacket raised up, exposing his gun. He said they both reached for the gun, but Zimmerman grabbed it first and fired one shot.

Zimmerman gave this interview to an investigator a few days after the shooting. The investigator was using a laptop to analyze the stress levels in his voice to detect signs of lying.

A report indicates that Zimmerman passed this test, concluding there was "No deception indicated," according to The Smoking Gun.
