Military reunion has tail waggin' surprise

  • Sgt. Ross Gundlach served with yellow lab Casey in Afghanistan
  • After her tour in the military Casey went on to work as a bomb sniffing dog in Iowa
  • Sgt. Gundlach has been trying to adopt her

A Marine Sergeant spent a year trying to get his K9 war buddy back and his persistence paid off!

The two were separated when their tours in Afghanistan ended.

Sergeant Ross Gundlach went to college in Wisconsin and Casey the yellow lab went to work as a bomb-sniffing dog in Iowa.

Gundlach drove to Iowa thinking that he was being given an opportunity to plead his case so the state might consider letting him adopt Casey -- but he didn’t have to plead much.

Officials had already decided to let him have her… so when the Sergeant asked if Casey could come home with him, they said "yes."

Private donors raised the money needed to replace Casey in Iowa.
