Exclusive: The woman Travis planned to marry

  • Jodi Arias claims she killed Travis Alexander in self-defense
  • Ex-girlfriend speaks about engagement ring Travis bought her
  • Closing arguments in the Arias trial start next week on HLN

Closing arguments in the Jodi Arias trial are scheduled for next Thursday and Friday. Watch HLN to see every second of the dramatic conclusion.

The woman who Travis Alexander planned to marry spoke out in an exclusive interview with HLN’s Nancy Grace Thursday, discussing their relationship and the woman now accused of murdering him.

Jodi Arias is accused of murdering Alexander as his Mesa, Arizona, home on June 4, 2008. Arias claims she stabbed Alexander 29 times, shot him in the face, and slit his throat from ear to ear in self-defense.

If convicted of first-degree murder, Arias faces a possible death sentence. Closing arguments are set to begin next week.

Alexander’s ex-girlfriend Linda Ballard Boss was only 19 years old when she and Alexander began dating for about a year in June 2001.

In January of 2002, Alexander bought Boss an engagement ring after the couple discussed getting married. Boss says she ended the relationship before Alexander proposed.

It is believed Arias allegedly stole the engagement ring Alexander bought for Boss, following the testimony of the State’s expert psychologist last Thursday about a stolen ring.

“I knew he was planning on proposing to me. We were talking very seriously about marriage. I actually started to have doubts about whether I wanted to continue the relationship,” Boss told Grace.

When asked why she ended the relationship, Boss said, “I was very in love with Travis. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I didn’t feel like he was the right man for me.”

Alexander’s ex-girlfriend also recalled an eerie conversation she had with Alexander during the last visit she had with him at the Arizona State Fair in October of 2006.

“He said he had been dating a girl named Jodi and he mentioned to me that she is a pathological liar,” Boss said.

“I want people to know that the real Travis was not abusive. He was kind, he was a shoulder to cry on, he was passionate about life, he had more goals than most people would ever dream about trying to accomplish. He inspired people to be better,” Boss told HLN.
