The Boston Marathon finish line was within one Michigan woman's grasp.

Pam Mathers had less than a mile to go and then tragedy struck, according to HLN affiliate WDIV. Bombs exploded, killing and injuring some, but Mathers was unharmed.

Yet the principal of Hamilton Elementary School in Troy, Michigan, would get to cross a finish line -- thanks to her students. See how one group of children ensured their school’s principal would get to complete her marathon.
