When court is done for the day, the conversation is only just beginning. Watch HLN’s newest hit show "HLN After Dark: The Jodi Arias Trial" nightly at 10 p.m. on HLN.
People are still buzzing about the newly released police interrogation video of Jodi Arias’ parents, Sandra and William, being interviewed by Mesa, Arizona, Detective Esteban Flores, the lead investigator in the case of Travis Alexander's death.
At one point, Sandra Arias can be heard saying, “Jodi has mental problems. Jodi would freak out all the time. I had quite a few of her friends call me and tell me that I needed to get her some help. One called me in the middle of the night and told me that she needed help.”
Dr. Drew reacted, “[Jodi] was in trouble and friends and parents were concerned about her. That was the time to get her help … I have no patience for that … anybody, if you know someone that's in trouble, get them help now.”
Sirius XM radio host Jenny Hutt noted how it appeared that the parents seemed devastated, but “not exactly shocked by the news.”
Dr. Drew responded, “That's the point. These tapes tell you everything you need to know,” adding, “We treat illnesses above the neck differently than below the neck and we should not.”
Arias says she had to kill Alexander, her ex-boyfriend, in self-defense in June of 2008 at his Mesa, Arizona home -- even though she had initially given authorities different stories about the circumstances surrounding his death. She faces the death penalty if convicted of first-degree murder.
