Fear is spreading through a Texas community after a District Attorney who vowed to find his colleague's killer was shot to death alongside his wife.
On Saturday, district attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia were gunned down at their home in Kaufman County, east of Dallas.
It happened just two months after McLelland's deputy district attorney, Mark Hasse, was shot on the courthouse steps in broad daylight.
Authorities aren't sure if the killings are related, or if they're part of a larger scheme targeting public officials. The Kaufman County judge says McLelland and Hasse worked very closely together on similar cases.
A friend of Hasse says the deputy district attorney feared for his life and started bringing a gun to work about a week before he was killed in January.
McLelland's wife Cynthia was a nurse. They have five children, including one who is a Dallas police officer.
