Bond denied in Brunswick baby shooting

  • Family members of one suspect are denied bail
  • A Brunswick city commissioner was arrested charged with influencing a witness

There are so many strange twists in the tragic shooting that killed a baby in Brunswick, Georgia. Police arrested two teens, De'marquise Elkins and Dominique Lang, on suspicion of first-degree murder of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago, but the story doesn't end there.

The tangled web of details surrounding the shooting keeps growing.  Now, the mother and sister of suspect Elkins  -- Karimah Aisha Elkins, 36, and 19-year-old Sabrina Elkins – have been denied bond. The charges include giving a false alibi and tampering with evidence. The New Black Panther Party spoke out on behalf of the suspects' families.

Also, a Brunswick city commissioner was arrested yesterday and charged with influencing a witness. James Henry Brooks was apparently talking to a suspect's family.  His lawyer says it was all a misunderstanding. Brooks is also a distant relative of Elkins.
