Dr. Drew 'juror' called out by Arias defense

NEED TO KNOW
  • Defense concerned about attention given to prosecutor outside courtroom
  • 'It was just shocking to me and absolutely disappointing,' Dr. Drew 'juror' says

From the trial that is captivating the country, HLN presents a special programming event Friday beginning at 1 p.m.  All afternoon we’ll play the most compelling, most stunning moments from the 18 days that Jodi Arias was on the stand -- moments you won't want to miss.

Courtroom drama hit home Thursday … Dr. Drew “juror” Katie Wick became part of the Jodi Arias trial.

Without the jury present, defense attorney Kurt Nurmi made reference to a photograph of prosecutor Juan Martinez posing with Wick outside the Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix, AZ.

The defense was concerned about whether attention given to Martinez outside the courtroom could have improperly influenced jurors if they had witnessed it firsthand.

On Thursday night’s edition of Dr. Drew on Call, Wick said, “The reason I came down to this trial in the first place was not for the sensationalism of it.  It's because I've always had a passion for law -- specifically prosecution -- and I have a lot of respect and admiration for Juan Martinez and the way that he prosecutes cases. That's why I got a photo with him."

She added, “To think of it being put out there like this to sort of convey something that's not there -- not true -- was just shocking to me and absolutely disappointing.”

Katie Wick is not paid or employed by HLN or Dr. Drew On Call.

Dr. Drew On Call airs Monday through Thursday on HLN at 9 p.m. ET.  Follow the show on Facebook and Twitter @DrDrewHLN.
