From the trial that is captivating the country, HLN presents a special programming event this Friday. All afternoon we’ll play the most compelling, most stunning moments from the 18 days that Jodi Arias was on the stand -- moments you won't want to miss. That’s all afternoon this Friday, beginning at 1 p.m. on HLN.

Jodi Arias claims she had to kill her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in self-defense in June of 2008 at his Mesa, Arizona home -- even though she had given authorities other stories about the circumstances of his death.

But at this point in the trial, does she still think that the latest version of her story will resonate with the jury?

On Wednesday night, HLN's Dr. Drew and attorney Mark Eiglarsh discussed the issue.

“I am confident [Jodi] has had four years of listening to [her defense team], making it clear to her that her chances of getting 12 people -- all addicted to gullible -- to go along with this defense theory is only theoretically possible … I believe she's smart enough to know that,” Eiglarsh said.

He added, “I think she's doing the best she can -- accepts her fate and knows she will be in prison the rest of her life, but has to go through the motions and do these things and hope they don't sentence her to death."

Arias faces the death penalty if convicted of first-degree murder.

Dr. Drew On Call airs Monday through Thursday on HLN at 9 p.m. ET.  Follow the show on Facebook and Twitter @DrDrewHLN.
