Dr. Drew

Driven by current events, "Dr. Drew" on HLN focuses on the human - and human behavior - at the center of the story.

Juan Martinez, rock star?

  • Many waiting outside courthouse to get photo with prosecutor Juan Martinez
  • 'He's Travis' voice ... [people] respect him for that,' court spectator says

When court is done for the day, the conversation is only just beginning. Watch HLN’s newest hit show "HLN After Dark: The Jodi Arias Trial" nightly at 10 p.m. on HLN.

Prosecutor Juan Martinez has made headlines daily since the beginning of the Jodi Arias murder trial.

His explosive style in the courtroom has its critics, but there’s no doubt that outside the court’s chambers, Martinez has become quite the celebrity, according to those that have been attending the trial regularly.

“A lot of people are waiting outside the courthouse to get a photo with Juan Martinez,” court spectator Katie Wick told HLN’s Dr. Drew Tuesday night,

She added, “I think there are two different groups that really appreciate Juan Martinez. There's the group that likes him because of his star status, so to speak. But then there's the other group that really respects him for how wonderful of a job he does, representing Travis … he's Travis' voice … I think there is a huge amount of respect for him for that."

Jodi Arias claims she had to kill her ex Travis Alexander in self-defense in June of 2008 at his Mesa, Arizona home -- even though she had given authorities other stories about the circumstances of his death. She faces the death penalty if convicted of first-degree murder.

Dr. Drew On Call airs Monday through Thursday on HLN at 9 p.m. ET.  Follow the show on Facebook and Twitter @DrDrewHLN.
