Lawyer: Amanda Knox is 'ready to fight'

Now that the Italian Supreme Court has ruled that Amanda Knox should be re-tried on murder charges she was acquitted of in 2011, what happens next?

CNN's Ben Wedeman, reporting from Italy, says the judges determined that a botched police investigation, which was the basis of Knox's defense, did not hold up against the amount of evidence against her.

Now the Supreme Court judges have 90 days to publish their motivations for their decision.

The attorneys in the case will have 40 days to put forward their cases.

There may not be a trial until early in 2014 and Knox will remain free till then.

Even if Italy DOES decide to seek extradition, the U.S. considers that request on a case-by-case basis. They have, in the past, decided not to turn over American citizens who are convicted of a crime in Italy.
