Ty Pennington hosts HLN's American Journey
Like many of us, Jim Mentor wanted a better life. So he moved from Illinois to Williston, North Dakota, in search of work. About 4 billion barrels of oil lie underneath Williston, which has sparked a modern-day "gold rush."
But folks are in for a surprise when they arrive -- there's no place to live. Williston is small and there simply aren't enough homes for everyone who wants to live there. So, like many before him, Jim had no choice but to sleep in his truck. And he stayed there for seven months! Don't worry, he's not in that truck anymore. He recently bought a trailer.
