Dr. Drew On Call

Driven by current events, "Dr. Drew" on HLN focuses on the human - and human behavior - at the center of the story.

What do men see in Jodi Arias?

NEED TO KNOW
  • Jodi Arias, on trial for the murder of her ex-boyfriend, claims self-defense
  • Travis Alexander was stabbed 29 times, shot, throat slashed

When court is done for the day, the conversation is only just beginning. Watch our new show, HLN After Dark: The Jodi Arias Trial, nightly at 10 pm ET on HLN.

Wednesday marks Day 18 of testimony from Jodi Arias.  Jurors will have more questions to present and prosecutor Juan Martinez will get another chance to try to prove that she is lying to them.

Arias has testified that her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander physically abused her and that he was a sexual deviant who was aroused by children.

The 32-year-old defendant claims though that she killed Alexander in self-defense in June of 2008 at his Mesa, Arizona home, even though she had given authorities other stories about the circumstances of his death. She faces the death penalty if convicted in her trial.

But on Tuesday night, HLN’s Dr. Drew asked a few men, who knew Arias, what it was that made them so drawn to her at first.

“She was a cute girl with a cute butt …long blonde hair,” said Abe Abdelhadi, who once dated Arias.  "And I thought, 'great she can [also] construct a sentence.'”

Josh Denne added, “My first impression of Jodi was that she was the type of girl that wanted to introduce herself to anybody that was doing well or anyone that could further whatever she wanted to do in life … she was an attractive woman, but [there was just] something strange with her.”

Dr. Drew interjected, “Men know that about themselves and now they're seeing what this woman is capable of and it freaks them out that they're like that.”

Is this case opening your eyes to any potential warning signs with someone you are or have dated in the past? Let us know in the comment section below.
