Casey vs. creditors: Anthony back in court

NEED TO KNOW
  • Anthony appears in public for the first time since 2011
  • She is meeting with her creditors about her bankruptcy
  • Anthony was acquitted in the murder of her 2-year-old daughter in July 2011

It's been a little while since Casey Anthony was in the spotlight, but it seems like her time has come again. Anthony appeared in court today in Tampa for the first time in two years. She filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on January 25, and now it's time for her to face her creditors in court.

Anthony has not made any public appearances since she was acquitted of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, in 2011.

Affiliate CFN News 13 reports that Anthony arrived in a black SUV and walked through the front door of the courthouse, shielding her face from the cameras. She wore a large-brimmed hat to hide her face. Attorney Cheney Mason protectively shielded Anthony as they entered the building.

Anthony claims that her debts total $792,000. That amount includes the fees she owes to her former attorney Jose Baez, which could be as much as $500,000. She is currently unemployed.
