It's been a rough year for the Carballo's. After losing an uncle and grandmother, Sgt. Curtis Carballo remained strong for his family and his country.
Curtis's father, Charles Carballo, wanted to make sure his son knows how proud he is. No matter what, he'll be waiting for his son and best friend to come home. His family misses him so much. They are constantly praying for his safety.
From Charles Carballo's iReport:
…most of my family has served in the military. My father retired from the Army as a sergeant first class. My brother was a sergeant. My sister was in the Air Force, and I was specialist in the Army. Now my son is in the Army. He just got promoted to sergeant. His company just got sent to the Middle East and will be there for 9 months. I just want them to know how proud I am of my son and his captain, first sergeant, his unit and for the Army for making a man and a solider out of my son and recognizing his accomplishments. Through all the losses we have had, with him losing his grandfather on 6/30/09 and then his uncle, whom he call Buddy, on 4/23/12, then his loving grandmother on 10/14/12, I told him that they will watch over him while he's servicing his country.
P.S. I miss him because he is my son and my best friend.
