Triumph, indeed! Mom sees daughter on ship!

  • Mom gets to see her family for the first time as they wave to cameras on helicopter

CNN/HLN cameras captured the first images of the Carnival Triumph as it was being towed back to shore Thursday. A mom who was talking with CNN's Ashleigh Banfield was able to see her daughter for the first time since the ship's departure as the girl waved to cameras from the ship's deck.

The Carnival Triumph is now expected to dock Thursday night in Mobile, Alabama, sometime between 9 p.m. and midnight ET. The ship was crippled Feb. 10 when a fire in the engine room caused enough damage to set it adrift in the Gulf of Mexico.

Power and running water were among the services affected by the fire. Passengers have reportedly faced long lines and even fights for food.
