President Obama will award the Medal of Honor to a former Army Staff Sergeant Monday at the White House.
Clint Romesha helped 50 American troops win a fight against some 300 Taliban militants. The 2009 fire fight in Afghanistan lasted more than 12 hours.
Eight Americans died in the attack.
Romesha will be the fourth living recipient to be awarded the Medal of Honor for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan.
He will also be a guest of the First Lady at Tuesday's State of the Union Address.
