Dr. Drew

Driven by current events, "Dr. Drew" on HLN focuses on the human - and human behavior - at the center of the story.

Body language expert: Did you catch Arias doing this?

  • Arias: I acted out Travis Alexander's sexual fantasies
  • Arias: Ex-boyfriend pleasured himself to boy's photo
  • Arias, accused of killing ex-boyfriend, claims self-defense

Jodi Arias continued her testimony Monday alleging that not only did her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander physically assault her, but she also claims she caught him pleasuring himself to a photograph of a young boy in January of 2008.

But Arias says she loved Alexander, believing he wanted to change. Therefore, she kept him in her life.

This all stems from her statements last week on the stand when she discussed a gift Alexander gave her for Valentine’s Day in 2007, which included a pair of boys’ Spider-Man underwear.

Arias is claiming she killed Alexander in self-defense, even though she had given authorities other stories about his death.

After Alexander’s body was found in June of 2008 at his Mesa, Arizona home, Arias told police she was not involved in his killing. She later told investigators that she witnessed two intruders break in and kill him. Eventually, Arias said she killed Alexander in self-defense.

HLN's Dr. Drew talked to the author of "You Can't Lie To Me" and body language expert Janine Driver after Monday’s testimony.

Driver explained that she noticed “three major hot spots verbally”.

1) Talking in current tense opposed to past tense

2) Dropping the word “I”

3) Not answering “yes” or “no”

Watch the video clip above for the full and fascinating explanation.
