Homeless hitchhiker hero is an online 'smash'

NEED TO KNOW
  • 'Kai' is credited with saving lives by stopping attack by man who claimed to be Jesus

"Smash, smash, suh-MASH." That is what a homeless hitchhiker named Kai said he did with the blunt end of a hatchet, in order to stop a man who rammed his car into a utility worker in California.

One witness tells HLN affiliate KMPH says 54-year-old Jett McBride said he was Jesus, and wanted to wipe African-americans off the globe. The worker McBride hit was black. He also went after a woman who was watching the scene nearby and tried to help the worker. That's when Kai sprung into action and 'smash, smash, smashed' McBride with the hatchet.

People say Kai's actions saved lives!

The worker was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police arrested McBride.
