Jodi Arias says she killed her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander in self-defense, even though she has given authorities other stories about his death.
After Alexander’s body was found in June of 2008 at his Mesa, Arizona home, Arias told police she was not involved in his killing. She later told investigators that she witnessed two intruders break in and kill him. Eventually, Arias said she killed Alexander in self-defense.
On Monday, February 4, Arias took the stand in her murder trial with jaw-dropping confessions, including suicide plans and allegations of abuse at the hands of her parents.
HLN’s Dr. Drew later talked to Taylor Searle, a friend of Alexander, about his thoughts on Arias' first day of testimony.
“She wants to sell to the jury, ‘I'm wearing these homely shirts and hair and glasses and I look like I couldn't hurt a mouse and I'm going to talk with a soft voice and look at the jury every time I get a question'," Searle stated. "She's thought this act through. She's practiced it and it's just, [the way] I see it, completely an act.”
He added, “Jodi was just the wrong thing at the wrong time for [Travis] and just turned out to be a disease that he picked up and something that dragged him down.”
Dr. Drew On Call airs Monday through Wednesday on HLN at 9 p.m. ET. Follow the show on Facebook and Twitter @DrDrewHLN.
