Mary Kay Letourneau became the nation’s most infamous school teacher in 1997 when her sexual affair with former student Vili Fualaau was discovered. The pair began their relationship when Fualaau was just 12 years old and Letourneau was 34.
The tryst resulted in the birth of a child in 1997 and later Letourneau pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree child rape.
After spending just six months in jail, authorities learned Letourneau and an underage Fualaau maintained a sexual relationship and on this date in 1998 she headed back to jail.
Check out her 2006 interview with Fualaau, now her husband, as the couple explains their "forbidden love."
