Punxsutawney Phil predicts an early spring!

  • This year marks the 127th Groundhogs Day
  • Thousands travel to see if the furry forecaster will see his shadow or not-- supposedly predicting an early spring or longer winter

If you’re counting down the seconds to warmer weather, good ol’ Punxsutawney Phil has great news: spring is on its way! The furry forecaster did not see his shadow today. If Phil had seen his shadow, legend has it we would see six more weeks of wintry weather. The furry forecaster made his 127th appearance this morning at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

Each year, thousands of people gather to see the groundhog’s predictions on February 2. With the help of his keepers-- the tuxedo-clad members of the mysterious Inner Circle-- Phil shares his weather forecast with the world.
