The hostage situation involving a 5-year-old boy is now in its fourth day after police say a man kidnapped him at gunpoint from the child’s school bus.

Neighbors say the suspect is 66-year-old Jimmy Lee Dykes. Police say the suspect also shot and killed the school bus driver, Charles Poland Jr. The suspect took the boy into an underground bunker and that’s where they have remained.

The bunker is described as a 15-foot by 15-foot space and police are communicating with the suspect through a PVC pipe. Investigators say the boy has not been physically harmed. Neighbors say the suspect has anti-government views and was supposed to make a court appearance this week on charges that he shot at a neighbor and his family.

The little boy needs medication but investigators were able to send the child’s medicine down the pipe into the bunker along with some coloring books and crayons.
