This week is the anniversary of Janet Jackson's infamous 2004 Super Bowl faux pas, which introduced the term "wardrobe malfunction" into the cultural lexicon. It was an uneventful performance until Justin Timberlake pulled at Jackson's top, exposing her right breast to millions of game watchers. What followed was a scandal so huge, it got its own nickname: "Nipplegate."
The singer offered this public apology following the incident. In a statement she explained, "The decision to have a costume reveal at the end of my halftime show performance was made after final rehearsals."
